Update on the Construction of the Farmbot

It is encouraging to see the Farmbot take shape.  This is a robotic mechanism that we are hoping will plant, monitor the growth by watering and weeding the garden.  We welcome new people to this project as we enter the next phase of sorting out crops and programming the robot.  This keen group of people have been dedicated in their efforts to get this project off the ground.  If you are interested in joining us, or want to find out more, check out our facebook page "TechtoTable"

Peace at St Margarets

PEACE
The Junior School have ignited their Inquiry with a stunning welcome to the captain and crew of the Peace Boat (http://peaceboat.org) which recently arrived in Lyttelton Port. Mrs Paulette Double had the pleasure of touring the vessel. She shared student questions with Captain Andersson and crew and they were thrilled to see and hear our St Margarets girls perform.

Y5/6 students will be researching boat designs and styles. They will then sail through the technology process as teams to collaborate, sketch, discuss, construct, test and evaluate their own boats. These boats will be made from tape, yes tape, a process called tapigami!

BreakOutEDU

In Breakout EDU games, players work collaboratively to solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to open a locked box. Each Breakout is modelled on a themed story.

Betsy Macdonald ran a Breakout EDU as a tutor group activity where team work helped to achieve a positive outcome.
Students had to use perseverance, clever thinking, and their research skills online to try to unravel the clues that they found around the room. Each clue they solved got them closer to the goal of unlocking the box.

CONGRATULATIONS - you broke out !
